PSP detain 12 armed men barricaded onto Lisbon terrace

PSP police have today arrested 12 armed men discovered barricaded onto a terrace in a Lisbon neighbourhood wearing bullet-proof vests. For now the ‘social neighbourhood’ hasn’t been specified. The men were ‘strategically positioned’, say reports, suggesting this was some kind of gang-related issue. The men were detained for “crimes against life, resistance and coercion of a public sector worker and possession of fire-arms”, but have all been allowed home on the lightest of bail terms. Says Lusa the 12 have an “ample history of violent crimes, normally directed at the sphere of property”. They have been ordered to report periodically to the authorities.
