PSP alert over 1000-strong meet called for Colombo

Lisbon || PSP police are reported to be on high alert over another “meet” scheduled to bring as many as a 1,000 youngsters to Lisbon’s busy Colombo shopping centre today.
Rapid intervention teams had already been scrambled and the centre’s management was reported to be working in close contact with police to avoid a mass invasion.
“The Colombo Shopping Centre is accompanying the phenomenon on social networks and is in direct articulation with the PSP. The response given by the authorities is that there is a team of PSP close to the shopping centre and, in case of disturbances, reinforcements will be rapidly supplied,” said a statement from the shopping centre.
The whole “meets” phenomenon has evolved over Facebook recently, and has already resulted in a number of serious incidents in shopping centres throughout the country.
Last week in Cascais, a “meet” set up to coincide with the Anselmo Ralph concert ended with a number of people being stabbed and the rapid break-up of what should have been a ‘family event’.
