Algarve MPs for the social-democratic party PSD have requested a hearing with Portuguese President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to “expose the grave economic and social situation” that the region is facing.
Cristóvão Norte, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos believe that the Algarve has been the victim of “negative discrimination”, stressing that only 1.7% of Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan funds will be making their way to the region.
