The day has come for Joaquim Pinto Moreira to request the lifting of his parliamentary immunity as police have said they are ready to question him regarding their inquiries into Operation Vortex, the corruption probe that has already seen various people made ‘official suspects’, and Pinto Moreira’s successor held in preventive custody. The former mayor of Espinho has stressed that by requesting the lifting of his parliamentary privileges, he is in no way admitting any kind of guilt.
