PSD/Algarve has joined the A22 motorway debate with a proposal to suspend the tolls on the A22 motorway – but only while the alternative EN125 road is undergoing upgrades.
In a statement, the regional party says it will also advise the PS government to reduce toll prices by 50%, though it still does not support scrapping them altogether.
PSD/Algarve highlights the fact that some sections of the EN125 have become “unbearable to drive on”. Getting from Lagoa to Portimão can at times take “one hour” even though it’s “just a 10km distance”.
With Easter just two weeks away, the social democrats accept that without intervention the situation could have dire consequences for tourism.
