The ruling PS has today vetoed a request presented by PSD social democrats to hear the Minister of Defence on the GNR’s recent request for Frontex air patrols of the seas around the Azores. The request is being dealt with ‘internally’, says the PS, suggesting any attempt to have the matter discussed in parliament is “alarmist”. PSD MP Jorge Paulo Oliveira has retorted: “when the PS thinks that anyone exercising the right to check is alarmist, I think that says everything. All that’s left is for the PS to shut down parliament, if that’s what they want, because it looks like that’s what they want. Obviously they’re not going to get it…”
