PS Socialists falling in popularity, says poll

A new poll commissioned by tabloid Correio da Manhã and its television station CMTV suggests PS Socialists are falling in popularity, while PSD social-democrats, the country’s main political party, are gaining. “The difference between the PS (registering 28.3% of citizens’ voting intentions) and the PSD (24.8%) is smaller than ever”, says the paper today, citing the reason as “the many cases that have shaken the government and influenced the voting decisions of electors”. The many cases (of alleged incompatibilities and suspected white collar crimes) have been coming thick and fast in recent weeks.
