More than 3,000 people took part in a protest at Sagres fortress on February 15, against the government’s restrictions on recreational fishing along the Algarve’s western coast.

The government has restricted the activity to four days a week, between Thursdays and Sundays from dawn until dusk.

One of the protest organisers said  “This is unconstitutional, not everyone can go fishing on those days and it concentrates all the fishermen into four days, which is dangerous.”
