Protection for nature spots

Loulé Câmara approved a project that will see nature spots Rocha da Pena and Fonte Benémola receive protected zones status.

According to the Câmara, the two areas are going to be reclassified to ensure their protection and future management.

It is hoped that the Paisagens Protegidas (protected landscapes) project will raise awareness for the need to protect the environment and local landscapes at the same time as encourage leisure activities to attract visitors and boost the economy in a balanced way.

Rocha da Pena and Fonte Benémola have always been sought after by nature lovers attracted to the flora and fauna of the area.
