Prostitution arrests

An international network suspected of placing women into prostitution on the roads of the Algarve and Aveiro in the north of Portugal has been dismantled by the border and immigration control authority (SEF).

Five people of Romanian nationality have been arrested. The group, which was under investigation for several months, is said to have exploited women coming into the country from Romania.

According to the SEF, the network exploited women generally aged around 20 and some underage girls by putting them in the streets near the EN125 road between Albufeira and Boliqueime.

Investigations continue.
