Professional and amateur golfers took to the course at Morgado on August 15, with 16 teams braving the high summer temperatures.
Sean Hawker led his team of amateurs, Michael Suter, Billy Aldred and Cathy Tully, to victory with a winning score of 91 points, while José Correio with his team of Luis Sequeira, José Lorenz and António Correio finished as runners up with 90 points.
In third place with 89 points, José Dias led a family team of Joanne, George and Nick Ounstead, with Joanne Ounstead also picking up the prize for closest to the pin while Eduardo Cavaco Silva took home the men’s prize for nearest the pin.
In the Pro contest it was Ricardo Santos, playing in the Blevins Franks series for the first time, who finished in first place with a score of 69, ahead of Sean Hawker in second followed by António Sobrinho and Hugo Santos in joint third, and Elidio Costa and José Dias who shared fifth place.
Ricardo Santos said that he was “delighted” with the win and used the tournament as a chance to prepare for his participation in the upcoming Portugal Masters in October to be held on his home course of Oceânico Victoria in Vilamoura.
Meanwhile, the penultimate event of the 2010 Blevins Franks ProAm Golf Series is to take place on September 5 on the Alamos course.
Entry to the competition costs 60 Euros per person including buggies, lunch and prizes.
