Cerro Novo estate agency in Albufeira is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
“In the year of NASA’s first Space Shuttle mission and with Ronald Reagan as the new US President, some early property pioneers from the UK were opening one of the first full-service estate agencies in Albufeira and the central Algarve,” said the company in a statement.
Allan Edwards, as his father before him, had developed experience of the Portuguese property market through their investment in Cerro Grande, an upmarket neighbourhood in west Albufeira, and other prestigious projects in Lisbon.
As markets matured and the world economy began to recover after years of gloom, Cerro Novo expanded its service offering to cope with increasing demand, adding a property sales office to their portfolio in 1988.
“Thirty-five years of developing great service, hiring and retaining the best people, and careful but consistent expansion have led to a successful, long-term business which looks after its clients at every step of their property journey: from search to purchase to management and from renting to selling,” said the statement.
The founders of Cerro Novo are still actively involved in the business too, with Allan Edwards as chairman and Sue Bland working within the rentals and management office.
Many members of the Cerro Novo team are also long-standing employees, most with over 10 years’ dedicated service. Robert Edwards (sales director), Ana Penisga Amorim (partner since 2013) and Lesley Cuss (general manager – management and rentals) each lead a team of professionals, designed to maintain and constantly improve standards in a highly competitive marketplace.
Happy 35th birthday,
