Projects create jobs

PLANNED MEGA projects in Castro Marim are expected to create around 2,000 jobs, according to Câmara President José Estevens.

He announced last week that the câmara had approved a building licence for a new resort, Almada de Ouro, which has a total investment of around 250 million euros. The resort will have a five-star hotel, villas as part of a residential village and a 27-hole golf course.

Meanwhile, construction of a new resort, Verde Lago, is due to begin soon once the câmara has sent out the building licence. With more than 2,000 bed spaces, the resort will feature a hotel and villas, with an area for shops and other amenities. An 18-hole golf course will also be constructed as part of the project.

Last month, the câmara approved the urbanisation plan for Herdade de Corte Velho, which will create 2,100 bed spaces and the construction of the smaller developments of Quinta do Guadiana and Quinta do Vale were also approved.

As well as creating thousands of jobs in Castro Marim, the câmara is hopeful that the high quality investments and resorts will serve to attract more tourists to the eastern Algarve and develop luxury tourism in the area.
