Approval of a project to develop a €200 million five star hotel in Querença, Loulé, is expected soon, said development director.
Hélder Martins told Região Sul newspaper that work on the Quinta da Ombria development should start soon after the approval of the project.
Delays in its approval are due to regulations to protect the Querença-Silves aquifer system, above which the project has been conceived.
Initially expected to have 200 rooms, the hotel will now have half of that number. Hélder Martins says this will enable the development to invest on quality.
Although the construction area will cover 60 hectares, the total land area where the development will be located extends for 160 hectares and includes several local flora, such as holm and cork oaks.
