Synonymous with the Algarve coast, Gregory Mason paints dramatic sea and skyscapes. A prize-winning artist at the ‘Applied Art Open Exhibition’ in the UK, his work can be seen exclusively in Portugal at Galeria Côrte-Real near Paderne.
A graduate of St Martin’s College, London, his compositions resonate with classical traditions, painting figurative landscapes in oil. Noticeably a sense of grand scale predominates, challenging the viewer’s understanding of space. Rhythms of light and patterns of texture as seen in the sky and on the sea typify his atmospheric paintings.
Especially selected by the gallery’s owners, Pedro Côrte-Real comments that Gregory Mason’s work has “an inspirational flow of bold confidence. We are delighted to be able to represent him at Côrte-Real”.
Côrte- Real has a pop-up gallery located above estate agents ‘Fine and Country’ in Carvoeiro. The main gallery ‘Galeria Côrte-Real’ is signposted from Boliqueime, Ferreiras and Paderne. It is open from Thursday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm.
