Private investment for Portugal worth €391 million

Seven projects, representing €391 million worth of private investment, will be creating around 400 jobs in Portugal, announced Deputy Prime Minister Paulo Portas on Tuesday (June 17). He described the projects, mainly industrial ventures, as “the largest investment plans of the last three years”.
The coastal town of Sines will receive the lion share of the investment sum – €226 million.
The project is led by local company Atlantikfuror, which rents ships and provides support services for offshore maritime activities. It aims to construct a base for the oil industry in Sines, creating around 150 jobs in the process.
Other investments for the country include the construction of a pulp mill in Vila Velha de Rodão (€39.2 million and 71 jobs), a wood processing factory in Nelas (€37.7 million and 35 jobs), and an ethyl alcohol factory in Idanha-a-Nova (€31.9 million and 98 jobs).
Further investments are planned for Aljustrel by mining company Almina (€44.9 million and 20 jobs), Oliveira do Hospital by the Sonae Indústria group (€6.8 million but only two new jobs), and for Samora Correia by agricultural producer Brieftime, which will invest €4.1 million and create 30 jobs.
