FARO IS soon to have two more hotels thanks to a private initiative. According to Faro Câmara President, José Vitorino, there are several private groups interested in investing in the city’s tourist sector.
He also revealed that there were at least two more hotel projects in the offing, both promoted by the private sector. These hotels are in addition to the two already planned for land belonging to the municipality. One will be a five star hotel in the city centre next to the City Hall, and the other will be a four star hotel next to the municipal swimming pools and the future Faro Sport and Leisure Park. According to Faro Câmara, both private hotels will be built within the urban zone of the city.
José Vitorino also revealed that there are other potential private investors interested in Faro, and he emphasised that one of the most serious problems facing the city, from the tourism point of view at the moment, was the lack of hotel accommodation. He added that he hoped Faro would soon become one of the principal tourist destinations in the region.
