Prisoners to restore Supreme Court’s clapped out cupboards and chairs

Four cupboards, 31 wooden chairs, five benches, an armchair, a table, two sideboards and a cushion. These are the latest items leaving Portugal’s Supreme Tribunal of Justice and heading for Coimbra jail. An initiative involving 70 prisoners and 10 specially equipped workshops will now have 212 days to repair the furniture, writes Correio da Manhã. The contract celebrated with the general directorate for reintegration and prison services will see the court pay €8,546.57 for the work.
