Prisoners to receive ‘cell phones’

The government has approved a diploma to allow the installation of landlines in prison cells. The idea being that inmates will be allowed calls from ‘approved numbers’, and with a fixed time limit “in hours most appropriate to family dynamics”. The development is likely to reduce the number of incidences where phones are smuggled into jails, and often hidden in the most remarkable places.
