Prisoners at trouble-torn Pinheiro da Cruz jail, near Grândola, are reported to have gone on the rampage this week in protest to the scarcity of available medication.
The uproar involved various rubbish bins being upturned from the third floor, reports Correio da Manhã, while the prison services are reported to have played the disturbances down.
The prison is often in the news, most recently over three inmates escaping.
