A 26-year-old Brazilian who escaped from prison on January 8 was caught at the weekend, only to escape again while being held in the police vehicle outside a station in Carcavelos, Cascais.
The man had been caught while trying to rob a shop at 3am on Saturday morning in Estoril. As he had no documentation he was arrested and taken to the nearest station where the police discovered that he was an escaped convict.
While waiting in the police vehicle, the man managed to free himself of his handcuffs, get out of the car and run down the street, jumping over several high walls to escape the officers in pursuit.
The Brazilian is sentenced to five years and two months for robbery.
