Two men received prison sentences for burglary and the attempted murder of a British citizen in the Algarve.
According to Correio da Manhã newspaper, the Spanish and Colombian defendants, in their 20s, were accused by Tavira Court of 12 crimes of burglary against isolated properties in the east Algarve in August last year and for shooting at the car of a British man who caught them trying to enter his property in the Tavira area and photographed them.
A car chase ensued with the criminals following the British man for several kilometres shooting at the vehicle “at least three times”.
Tavira GNR arrested the men two hours later by the Guadiana border to Spain.
The men were sentenced to 11 and eight years in prison. Judges at Tavira Court described the crimes as “very serious”.
