A firearm accident during a training course for new members of the Prison Services Intervention Group (GISP) has resulted in a seriously injured trainee losing a finger on one hand, official sources have confirmed. The accident occurred during an anti-riot instruction session yesterday afternoon at the GISP facilities in Monsanto, Lisbon. President of the Independent Union of the Prison Guard Corps (SICGP), Júlio Rebelo, and the Directorate General of Reinsertion and Prison Services (DGRSP) have also confirmed that the training course has for now been suspended. The incident involved a shotgun firing blanks.
