Prince Harry and Meghan make ‘secret trip’ to Portugal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a “secret trip” to Portugal last week, according to Portuguese weekly celebrity magazine Nova Gente.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who relinquished their royal duties in 2020 and moved to the USA, had travelled to Europe to take part in the Invictus Games, which were held in Düsseldorf, Germany.

They are understood to have travelled to Portugal immediately after the event ended on Saturday, September 16 for a three-night “romantic getaway.”

Without their children – Archie, aged four, and Lilibet, aged two – the Duke and Duchess arrived in Portugal and, as soon as they landed, headed to the Alentejo, more precisely to Melides, Nova Gente reports.

“The choice of this location may be related to a possible invitation from Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie (daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson), who has been spending a lot of time in this Alentejo region since the beginning of 2022 due to her husband, Jack Brooksbank, being hired to work in the Marketing and Sales Department of Costa Terra Golf & Ocean Club, a luxury resort located in the region,” it adds.
