Price rises

A REPORT by the national statistical institute of Portugal, released on Tuesday, has revealed that the consumer price index (CPI) in Portugal has risen by 3.1 per cent in September compared to 3 per cent in August.

The CPI measures the average price of consumer goods and services purchased by households and is a measure of inflation.

On a monthly basis consumer prices in Portugal were up 0.5 per cent in September.

The rises are being attributed to the soaring costs of clothing and footwear, which month on month have risen by 12.9 per cent.
