Price of basic hamper “hits highest value” since January 2022

The price of a basic hamper of 63 ‘essential items’ (calculated by consumer watchdog DECO Proteste) reached €219.40 this week, the highest value since January 2022, writes Expresso. Consumers are now spending €31.40 more than they were spending a year ago on the same list of purchases. This translates into an increase of 17% (well above the so-called rate of inflation). Rice (carolino) has gone up by almost €1 per pack, carrots and sugar by roughly 50%. These are the products that have increased the most, says DECO.
