President vetoes government’s alterations to two professional statutes

Government alterations to the professional statutes of engineers and architects have been vetoed by President Marcelo, who has given indication that there is room for the government, even in management mode, to improve and resubmit before he dissolves parliament on January 15. The alterations were widely seen as ‘watering down’ professional requirements. Marcelo reached his decision to veto following talks with representatives of the Orders of Engineers/ Architects. Meantime he has has promulgated changes to the Statutes of the Order of Pharmacists, again after talks with the entity overseeing the profession.
