President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited Caldas de Monchique on Sunday as part of his regular trips to the Algarve this summer to prove the region is a Covid-safe tourist destination.
Marcelo, who was accompanied by local mayor Rui André, chatted to tourists, drank (and bought) Monchique water and enjoyed a ‘mosquitinho’ (shot glass) of the popular Medronho firewater alongside locals.
This was the president’s eighth visit to the Algarve since June and will be followed by a visit to Faro.
