President laments evidence Africa ‘not a priority’ for most Europeans

Portugal’s president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, has said that it is clear that Africa is not a priority for Europe and lamented that this is the case, writes Lusa today. The head of state was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Eurafrican Forum – which began on Tuesday and ran through Wednesday, on the outskirts of Lisbon. He added that Europe‚Äôs population is aging, while that of Africa is growing, “but with poverty and conditions that apparently are not known, perceived and understood by many Europeans”.
