President hails resilience of 500,000 Portuguese living in Venezuela

Portugal’s president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, hailed the strength and perseverance of the nearly 500,000 Portuguese nationals living in Venezuela, in a video message broadcast in Caracas yesterday to mark Portugal’s national day: the Day of Portugal, Camões and Portuguese Communities. “The Portuguese community in Venezuela always resists, always resists, was great in the past, is great in the present and will be great in the future,” he said. “A big, big hug and the gratitude of the president of Portugal, but above all, of the Portuguese all over the world.”
