President cancels various commitments following yesterday’s collapse

President Marcelo has said he feels ‘fine’, following his worrying collapse in Lisbon yesterday, but he has nonetheless cancelled a number of dates in his agenda for the next few days “as a precaution”. He will not be going to Porto and Aveiro tomorrow as planned, nor will he be attending the Festa dos Tabuleiros (Party of Trays) in Tomar on Sunday. In information given to Lusa by an official source for the presidency, Portugal’s head of State will be staying put in Belém Palace, maintaining all commitments he has for this location. The president’s collapse even found its way to the news desks of Russia, SIC Notícias has reported. It was a ‘shock’ for the nation particularly as so many images were transmitted before anyone could be sure of exactly how the president was.
