Arsenal have made the biggest splash on the transfer market with an almost 30 million euro spending spree. Togo international and Monaco striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, 21, has joined the Gunners for 12 million euros and has been likened to former Highbury favourite Kanu.
Six million euros has been paid for 19-year-old Auzerre midfielder, Vasiriki Daiby, a French Under-19 player with qualities similar to those of the departed Patrick Vieira. The final 12 million euros should secure the long-term services of England’s hottest talent, Southampton teenager Theo Walcoff. The 16-year-old has shown no inclination to accept Chelsea’s overtures.
Spurs have offloaded Sean Davis, Pedro Mendes and Noe Pamarot to Portsmouth in a combined 10 million euro deal, while Southampton keeper Antti Niemi has joined Fulham for 1.5 million euros. Liverpool beat Spurs to the signature of 21-year-old Denmark centre-half, Daniel Agger. Agger, who cost nine million euros, will compete for a place in the Anfield starting line up with Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia.
