Specialist speaker Tiago Tomé will be presenting the first meeting of the Algarve Archaeological Association (AAA) of 2011 on January 11.
The meeting will take place at the museum in São Brás from 2.30pm, with a second held at the convent in Lagoa on the same day at 6.30pm.
Tiago Tomé will be speaking about the prehistoric collective burials in the Tagus and Guadiana river valleys with a presentation of a study of human remains from six collective burial sites found in Portugal and Spain between the seventh and third millennium BC.
Meanwhile, the AAA has announced that the association has made a grant of €4,000 to assist in the continuation of a project to draw and catalogue a large amount of important Portuguese rock art, with plans for a further grant to be issued during the summer.
Lectures are open to all members and non-members of the AAA, with non-members asked to pay €5 towards funding the speakers and the grants.
