Religious Easter celebrations start in Portimão on Sunday with a procession in the city centre from 4pm.
In preparation for the Holy Week, a procession will see churchgoers from both the Igreja Matriz and Igreja do Colégio converge at the Alameda da Praça da República, each group carrying the icons of Our Lord Jesus of Passos and Our Lady of Sorrows to mark the moment Mary and Jesus meet before Calvary.
