Plea || An outbreak of two deadly cat viruses has left PRAVI Faro in desperate need of help as 11 of its cats have already died and another 10 are in a serious condition.
Besides the tragic loss of animals in its care, the association has had to throw away all cat accessories including beds and litter boxes as they could harbour the viruses – feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and feline panleukopenia – and infect other cats.
Now they are faced with the “huge” expense of replacing everything.
Anyone who would like to help can do so by donating money to the association’s bank account (NIB 003300004541594164905) and sending a confirmation via email to [email protected] using ‘Gatos de Faro’ in the subject box.
Alternatively, the association would welcome donations like litter boxes, cat bowls, toys, beds, shovels, garbage bags, surgical gloves, bleach, bags of litter (ten are used per week on average), hand disinfectants, mops, buckets, kitten and cat foor, and carriers.
All these items can be left either at one of PRAVI’s adoption fairs, which are usually announced on its Facebook page, or at the Centro Veterinário da Estação on Faro’s Avenida da República.
