Power lines apology

PORTIMÃO’S MUNICIPAL assembly has apologised to national power line company REN for incorrectly stating that a power line planned to cross the archaeological site of Alcalar, Portimão, was REN’s responsibility.

Contrary to what was reported in the article Portimão’s prehistoric monument protected (The Resident, April 25), the medium tension power line which was diverted so that it would not pass over the site of Alcalar, is the responsibility of the national electricity company Electricidade de Portugal (EDP) and not REN.
