A Portuguese woman is one of the victims of a plane crash in Uruguay that killed 10 people in the early hours of this morning (March 20), according to the Uruguayan air force.
Two crew members and seven of the passengers were Argentine, while the other traveller was a woman from Portugal. “Unfortunately there weren’t any survivors,” the air force’s statement adds.
The small passenger plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Laguna del Sauce International Airport in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The cause as yet is unknown but air traffic controllers said they saw an explosion shortly after takeoff, reports AFP news agency.
The plane has been identified as a Beechcraft B90 King Air.
