A report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) has placed the Portuguese among the world’s top 10 alcohol drinkers. In 2015, the average alcohol consumption of Portuguese citizens was 12.5 litres per head, placing Portugal on the eighth spot of the list alongside Slovakia. Moldavia is where alcohol consumption is the highest with an average of 17.4 litres, followed by Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Czech Republic, Serbia and Romania.
