Portuguese spend less on Lady Luck

The Portuguese gambled less money in the country’s 11 national casinos in 2012, which saw a drop of €36 million in revenue, according to a report in Público newspaper. Vilamoura Casino, owned by the Solverde group, was the worst affected with a fall of almost 17% from €17.4 to €14.4 million between 2011 and 2012. Over the past year, the Portuguese Association of Casinos revealed that the nation’s casinos generated €289.7 million in revenue, which represents a downfall compared to €325.8 million in 2011.
