Portuguese psychologists give advice to those taking in Ukrainian refugees

The Order of Portuguese Psychologists (Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses) have compiled a document aimed at helping people who decide to take Ukrainian refugees into their homes. Beyond offering ‘bed, board and clothes’, it explains that time has to be “invested in support towards bureaucratic issues; in how to access services (education/ health/ employment) and how to integrate these people into the community. The absolute priority has to be to safeguard “against further suffering”, bearing in mind that one in five refugees is likely to develop mental health problems.
