Portuguese presidency ‘doing everything it can’ to ensure ‘digital travel certificates’ ready in June

The Portuguese presidency of the EU is doing everything it can to ensure the so-called ‘green (Covid) passports’ are indeed ready in June. But secretary of state for European Affairs Ana Zacarias has told a press conference today that it will be ‘very tight’ as there is “a tremendous amount of homework” required. The idea of this digital document with QR code is to show carriers have either ‘been vaccinated, had Covid and recovered, or have taken a recent PCR test and come out negative’ (click here). The passport is to be in the language of the relevant member state and English.
