Portuguese politics

Dear Editor,

The latest comments from Costa and Marcelo (PM and President, respectively) over the new proposed laws regarding the Covid-19 virus further cement my view that this country is sadly heading for another totalitarian period.

The virus was a godsent gift to the fascists who haven’t given up on bringing back the dictatorship that was in place in this country for decades, and will succeed unless the Portuguese adopt a true democratic system of government.

Portugal doesn’t really have a real democracy. Just look at ‘puppet’ Marcelo; isn’t he supposed to be impartial?

Unfortunately, the Portuguese people have no idea what democracy is all about, and, in my opinion, it should be taught at school from an early age.

If the ancient Greeks new of Portugal’s version of democracy, they would be rolling in their graves.
