During his visit to the devastated town of Bucha this week – the suburb of Kyiv where hundreds of citizens appear to have been butchered by Russian troops – Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy was photographed distributing Portuguese milk (Mimosa) and juice (Fresky), both produced by Porto based food company Lactogal. Journalists present admit they have no idea how the milk and juice made it into Bucha (whether it was part of donations from Portuguese citizens, or the firm itself), but said it was heartening to witness – and showed Portuguese solidarity is continuing to make itself felt in the country that is battling to survive.
