Portuguese man behind bars for trying to kill his dog

A Portuguese man living in the UK has discovered the folly of animal cruelty. Ricardo Costa, 40, is reported to be serving a year’s prison sentence for the brutal attack that left his Dwarf Spitz for dead in a snowdrift.
Costa might well have got away with the attack had he not told a room-mate, who in turn told a friend, who got in touch with the authorities.
According to a “happy ending” story in Correio da Manhã, police eventually found tiny black ‘Jameson’, as he has come to be called, and the plucky animal made it through surgery, emerging with a huge scar running the length of his head, but otherwise in good spirits.
The article claims ‘Jameson’ has since been adopted by the policeman who changed his luck.
The little dog had been hit over the head three times with a heavy tool by his owner after soiling Costa’s living space in a rented house in Ludlow.
Thinking the animal was dead, Costa then dumped the body in a snowdrift.
According to CM, Costa was condemned to a year in jail which he is now serving.
