Portuguese fifth most used language on internet

Portuguese is the fifth most used language on the internet, a study by statistics website Internet World Stats has revealed.
Data shows that 121.8 million people use Portuguese to express themselves online, although the language only accounts for 4.3% of all internet users.
English is at the top of the list, representing 28.6% of internet users (approximately 800 million) followed by Mandarin Chinese, accounting for 23.2% (around 650 million).
Also ahead of Portuguese is Spanish – used by around 222 million users (7.9%) – and Arabic – used by around 135 million (5.3%).
The top-10 is rounded off with Japanese (109 million), Russian (87 million), German (81 million), French (78.9 million) and Malaysian (75 million).
