Portuguese Euro MP nominated ‘co-rapporteur’ for expansion of EU

Notwithstanding the ‘warnings’ sounded by Finance Minister Fernando Medina about expansion eastwards of the EU, a Portuguese MEP has been nominated as ‘co-rapporteur’ for the process, to work alongside a Lithuanian counterpart. Pedro Silva Pereira is a Socialist MEP and vice president of the European Parliament. He and his fellow co-rapporteur will now have to analyse the necessary reforms that Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine require in order to be fully admitted into the European Union.
