Portuguese enjoy the most holidays

PORTUGAL RANKS as one of the countries in the world to enjoy the highest number of holiday days. The Portuguese have between 22 to 25 days off, which is well above many countries that have a higher developed economy.

The statistics were obtained from a study carried out by Aeon Consulting Eurometer, the world’s third largest social benefits and welfare consultants. The report concluded that half of the European Union member states enjoyed an average of 20 days a year, while 12 countries had between 22 to 25 days a year. The United States does not set down a legal limit for the amount of holidays an employee must have. The Philippines set down five days, Thailand and Mexico six days, Taiwan and Singapore seven days, China 10 days and Japan 12 days.
