Portuguese emigré ‘fleeced’ in BES debacle mounts silent protest outside Paris embassy

Amélia Reis, one of the many hundreds of Portuguese emigrés affected by the collapse of BES, is planning a silent protest outside the Portuguese embassy in Paris on Friday to force politicians to “do something” about what she calls a “gigantic fiscal fraud”. Her placard will demand “justice”, explains Diário de Notícias, adding that Reis does not consider she is asking a favour, but for politicians to “do their duty”.

This latest protest comes as the Portuguese government is still hoping to sign a purchase ‘deal’ for Novo Banco with American ‘vulture fund’ Lone Star.
