Portuguese cuisine at its best

A culinary weekend at O Terraço Restaurant within the five star Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel in Sagres will see two top chefs present the best of Portuguese cuisine.

Today (Friday), Martinhal’s chef Micael Valentim will present an exquisite six course tasting menu created especially for a wine tasting event by Alentejo wine producers Herdade do Esporão.

Seasonal and locally produced ingredients will be transformed into an interesting food experience to be paired with a selection of some of the Herdade do Esporão’s finest wines.

David Baverstock, winemaker at Herdade do Esporão, will personally guide guests through the tasting of his wines.

Dinner starts at 7.30pm and reservation is required. The price, at €58 per person, includes the wines.

Tomorrow (Saturday) renowned Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, owner of the famous Alma – Henrique Sá Pessoa restaurant in Lisbon, will be holding a five-star cuisine tasting menu.

His restaurant, opened in 2009, has been named “Best Restaurant” by Revista de Vinhos. Henrique Sá Pessoa describes his cuisine as contemporary, using only seasonal produce.

The dinner at 7.30pm costs €60 per person, including champagne by G. H. Mumm Cordon Rouge and wines by Altas Quintas. Reservation is required.
