Portuguese Covid vaccine “with promising results in pre-clinical trials in animals”

A Portuguese transnasal (through the nose) Covid vaccine is being developed by biotech company Immunethep, based in Catanhede, near Coimbra – and according to reports today, it has had “promising results in pre-clinical trials in animals”. Researchers hope to start human trials in the next few months. The vaccine is to be called SILBA. According to Lusa, it uses inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus which “reduces the probability of new variants being able to escape it”.
